Rate bands by follower tier
There is no official rate card in India, but the market has settled into recognisable bands for a single Instagram reel. Treat these as a starting point for negotiation, not a fixed price.
- Nano (1k–10k): ₹2,000–₹10,000 per reel
- Micro (10k–100k): ₹10,000–₹50,000 per reel
- Mid (100k–500k): ₹50,000–₹2,00,000 per reel
- Macro (500k+): ₹2,00,000 and up, often negotiated as a package
Four things that move the price
Two creators with identical follower counts can quote numbers that differ by three times, and both can be right. The difference is almost always one of these four.
- Niche — finance, tech and B2B pay well above lifestyle at the same size
- Usage rights — running the content as a paid ad is a separate product
- Exclusivity — blocking competitors for 30 or 90 days carries a premium
- Deliverable count — a reel plus stories plus a static post is a bundle, not one price
A sanity check for brands
A rough benchmark used widely in India is ₹100–₹500 per 1,000 engaged followers. Engaged, not total — multiply the follower count by the engagement rate first.
If a quote lands far above that band with no niche or usage-rights explanation, ask what is driving it. A good creator will happily tell you.
How creators should quote
Quote per deliverable, list revisions included, and price paid-ad usage separately with a defined term. Ambiguity here is what leads to unpaid extra work later.
